Penta Hotel

  • The Penta Hotel project is a re-development in an old industrial district with medium to tall rise factory buildings flanking the main street. The firm was requested to provide architectural design to the hotel façade, porte cochere at the ground floor main entrance and the swimming pool at third floor open area that would meet the development’s challenge to stand out in the old district. A feeling of “uptown chic” is expressed in the interplay of grey tone wall tiles and low reflective glass windows on the tower facade.

The repetition of the bay windows in the tower is transited into the stone clad entrance street front by a means of the repetition of light grey vertical aluminium fins at the podium, creating a smooth process of vertical transformation. The fins also serve to screen off the old factory buildings. The light grey marble clad porte cochere gives a sense of grandeur and is dressed up by a beige color streamline rib ceiling, creating a focal point at the arrival. The use of different grey tone in the stone, aluminium and glass over the façade gives the hotel building a fresh image, simple modern architectural vocabulary composed with thoughtfulness can be the starting point of an old district rejuvenation progress.
