Villa Rosa
➔
This project involved the sensitive renovation of a 1950s villa and the construction of three new Tuscan-style villas on the same plot
The original house, despite previous alterations, required a complete modernisation to meet contemporary living standards while carefully preserving its structural integrity and replicating its ornate detailing with a fresh, refined finish.
The resulting 720 sqm main villa now serves as the family’s central entertainment hub, complete with a generous kitchen, supporting the three adjacent new residences. Positioned on a raised garden terrace overlooking the approach road, the new villas echo the original’s architectural language through consistent material palettes, precast mouldings, and in-situ concrete crafted to replicate Portland stone. All four buildings share matching pitched roofs — an uncommon feature in Hong Kong — along with a unified colour scheme that creates a strong visual and metaphorical connection, symbolising family unity.
Each new villa includes semi-basement carports and elevated living areas that command spectacular southeast views from The Peak across Aberdeen to the South China Sea. Through meticulous craftsmanship and close collaboration between designers, engineers, and artisans, the project successfully blends heritage character with modern comfort, transforming the site into a cohesive family enclave that honours its historic roots while embracing contemporary island living. The Peak, Hong Kong
