Everyone has some extent of childhood memory, something that somehow defines a person's character throughout the entire life. The simple steel structure monkey's frame∫ existed in most housing estates literally filled our childhood memory. We recognize this as part of our history, our identity, and most of all a significant memory. Coupled with the commonly seen bamboo scaffolding in Hong Kong that ultimately signifies the development of our built environment.
Our proposal is an attempt to put together these two important elements that shaped both our past and future, invigorating our memory, a contemporary expression of an ephemeral community focal point, a photogenic and iconic urban pavilion.
How to populate a community plaza
A public sculpture acts as a backdrop and a focal attention point when ephemeral events inhibit the space bringing flows of movements and energetic lives into the public domain. Not only sculptiral, it is interactive, facilitating different modes of mood and effects.
