26 Mount Kellette Road
➔
The prominent location on The Peak, one of Hong Kong’s most prestigious addresses, inspired us to pursue a thoughtful and timeless design that would respectfully engage with its exceptional setting.
Replacing a 12-storey building with three low-rise residences on one of Hong Kong’s most exclusive sites, this project sought a timeless design that would become a landmark on The Peak while maximising its breathtaking views over the South China Sea. The three houses emerge from the natural hillside as solid granite blocks, seemingly floating above expansive glass walls. Resting on a podium carpark along Mount Kellett Road, the “Granites” are articulated with horizontal strips of glazing that introduce light, views, and rhythm while ensuring privacy between the closely positioned homes. Full-height transparency at garden level seamlessly connects interiors to surrounding landscapes and pools. Clad in textured, bush-hammered whitish-grey stone panels, the façades create dynamic shifting shadows throughout the day. Individual glass lifts and perimeter staircases provide both vertical circulation and a visual dialogue between inside and outside. Completed with meticulous attention to craft and context, the project was shortlisted and awarded a Merit by the Hong Kong Institute of Architects in the 2010 Residential Building Category. The Peak, Hong Kong
