A distinctive sports arena rises in deep grey aluminium, fair-faced concrete and natural stone, while covered walkways and green connections invite seamless movement between vibrant public life and tranquil indoor realms.
The development is surrounded by District Open Space and Quarry Park. The communal, leisure and welfare facilities proposed in the JUC echo with the surrounding open space forming a civic core for the ARQD, enhancing its focal identity in the community. he development is located next to the pedestrian lift towers, covered walkway, main pedestrian access, and public transport forming the gateway for arriving the ARQ District with connectivity to other facilities and development.
The proposed development shall establish a vital and energetic identity of Sport Centre and Community Hall, while a quiet and private experience of library and welfare facilities. The overall image shall be inviting, welcoming, contemporary and shall have its own identity reflecting its function while achieving a complementary unity as part of the immediate urban context.
To create a high quality and well-coordinated public realm for the JUC, enjoyable and welcoming accessible route should be proposed to the entrances of the JUC with integration with the surrounding environment. Thoughtful and appropriate planning of integration between outdoor and indoor environment and visual connection are required.
An integrated design concept from a civic core of ARQD to a user-oriented design shall be applied throughout the building disposition, design treatment of façade, design of exterior space and interior space, color scheme of building materials, as well as wayfinding design, etc.
To celebrate the “Gateway” and “Civic Core” of the JUC in the district, Sports Arena Building is expressed in a unique and distinguishable massing and material by using light weight, deep grey, non reflective aluminum panels / fair-faced Concrete / natural stone/ reconstituted stone.
