The Hong Kong Anti-Cancer Society was established as a non-profit organization dedicated to reducing the impact of cancer in the community. Over the years, the society has worked on the front lines of this effort by providing public education, patient support services, and funding for cancer research, always focusing on improving the lives of individuals and families affected by the illness throughout Hong Kong.
Our involvement with the society came through a small-scale renovation project aimed at updating their environment to better serve their daily needs. Rather than focusing on grand gestures, we concentrated on the practical details that make a space feel safe and supportive. We applied a palette of soft, neutral colors to the walls to keep the environment calm, and introduced a variety of tactile textures to break up the clinical feel of the rooms. We also updated the lighting system, replacing harsh fixtures with softer, balanced light sources. The resulting space remains highly functional for the staff while offering a quiet, peaceful atmosphere that respects the emotional and spiritual well-being of the patients and visitors.Wong Chuk Hang, Hong Kong
